cræft: an open call

Group Exhibition

18th -  29th November 2026

cræft, london

65 Compton Street, London, EC1V 0BN!

Before craft meant pottery or woodworking, it was a word for the knowledge that lives in the body. Like witchcraft. The Old English cræft meant strength, skill, cunning, power. That embodied knowledge that lives in the hands and is earned through repetitive doing. At a time when images, words and objects can be generated in seconds this kind of knowledge feels even more precious.

For our inaugural exhibition, we invite artists, makers, craftspeople of every discipline to reclaim the word. We want to see where craft lives in your practice. It might be the hundred hours behind a single object, a technique inherited from your grandmother, a material you’ve learned to bend against its will, or a deliberate refusal of polish altogether.

We welcome all mediums and all routes into making: trained, self-taught, traditional, functional and conceptual.
